Case study
MICRO BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN
PROJECT: Boneyard Beanies handmade headwear
PRODUCTS: Logo, apparel labels, hang tags, packaging, digital media, website, handmade beanie makers
OBJECTIVE: Stand apart from mass-produced name brand beanies found in stores.
CRITERIA: Identify with the coastal culture in the SF Bay Area and those who appreciate great design and fine handcrafted goods.
THE BRAND IDENTITY: "Boneyard" is a surfing term for where the waves break, so "Boneyard Beanies" was the perfect name for this California coast micro brand. I researched Polynesian symbols and masks, and finally modeled the logo after Tangaroa, the most important Māori god, the god of the sea. This iconic logo has been my most well-received and memorable logo designs to date.
BRANDING PRODUCTS: Website and social media graphics, product labels, hang tags and packaging.
NOTES: This warrior mascot is lovingly named "Dude."
RESOURCES: Photographs with models by Paige Green
